Maia Evarista Charlotte Ibar was born outside of Paris in 1982. She comes from a large, close knit Basque/French family of creative, intense personalities who emigrated to the U.S. in 1984 and split their time between the U.S. and the Basque region of France.
Maïa has been making art since she was a child. She attended Walnut Hill School, Parsons Paris, Pratt Institute, The Mountain School and holds a Masters of Painting from The New York Studio School. She has been investigating the process of painting, video, performance, drawing, installation, and music as rituals connected and related to the mind, body, and spirit. Maia is the artist for the book by Dr. Kathryn Hayward, Odyssey Family Systems Companion Guide.
Maïa and a core group of artists co-founded Pioche Projects which is a multi functional arts and healing space in the heart of Biarritz, France. It is in this unique facility where she, her brother Baptiste Ibar and Tristan Martineau first started hosting public sound baths, which she continues to offer and have been received with great enthusiasm by the local community.
Maïa’s healing practice stems from her vast and multifaceted knowledge of music/shamanism which led her to the deep study of sound therapy beginning in 2011. Maïa first started working in sound therapy in Brooklyn, NY at Golden Drum and has been working with shaman/aromatherapist Maya Minwah, Dr Kathryn Hayward and energy healer Jill Leigh for many years.
In 2013 she co-founded International Integrators with Dr. Kathryn Hayward and other colleagues and has offered tailored forms of immersive healing at numerous international retreats, including Living Whole retreats. She has been an integral part of moving those programs into Living Whole Online and is excited about what may transpire as the philosophy and practice of Integrative Whole Health reaches a global community.
Maia regards this journey and process as vital as she teaches herself about her sub-consciousness, revealing her deepest emotions and the path that her life has given her. She regards International Integrators as an organization that furthers that important work.
