For many artists, the body is thought of as an instrument. How can we treat our bodies not just as instruments of change, but as instruments of wholeness?

In this first session exploring the theme of fullness, Dr. Neal Barnard draws on his dual expertise as a scientist and musician to uncover the shared motifs among wellness, harmony, and nutrition. He reveals how the intricate orchestration of the gut microbiome profoundly shapes our overall health. A riveting group discussion follows, echoing the pivotal role of community in fine-tuning a full and balanced life.

This session includes opening and closing Sound Transformation experiences by Maia Ibar emphasizing vocal resonance and listening.

How do we flourish in a world where the easy paths seem to lead away from well-being?

This third session in our journey through Change highlights community, one of its most powerful roots. Members share experiences that have sprouted behavioral growth, while offering practical strategies to nurture the branches of a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Our collective efforts bear fruit in the form of actionable guidance on diet, exercise, compassion, inspiration, and creativity. This culminates in a reflective closing on spiritual guidance from The Vibrancy Path author/founder Jamie Champion.

This session includes an opening meditation and closing chair yoga session led by Sheila Magalhaes, on finding inner peace amid change.

Is change solitary, or can it be a collective experience? How can we expand our definition of transformation to include the ecosystems that sustain us?

In this second of three sessions on the theme of Change, we explore the positive reverberations of selfless devotion to others. Healthcare executive David Read uses his passions to propel him into uncharted territories, plotting trails across America to connect and strengthen communities around political, environmental, and economic issues. His extraordinary dedication to his varied pursuits motivates us to embrace the unknown and bare our hearts toward our fellow humans. To do so is to seek to transform the world as well as ourselves.

This session includes an opening and closing chair yoga session led by Sheila Magalhaes, who helps us invite change into our lives by entering a state of restful presence.

Life’s changing rhythms beckon our hearts to chime new melodies. How can we listen more intently to the sacred tempos that propel us?

In this first session devoted to the theme of Change, multi-instrumentalist Noah Plotkin responds to this question using a unique array of percussion instruments. From the warm tones of a handpan drum to the pitter-patter of dry beans in a pantry jar, he reveals the potential for our surroundings to transform into musical joy. Via a thoughtful group discussion, we seek to collectively improve our understanding of the potential for somatic awakening through sound.

This session includes a closing sound bath/singing meditation by Maia Ibar and Tristan Martineau, as well as a roadmap for upcoming sessions from Dr. Kathryn Hayward and Cleo Handler.

To plant is to trust that growth will come. How, then, can we better nurture the roots of this budding faith?

In this second session exploring the theme of “planting seeds,” we discover new opportunities for renewal and transformation amidst the most pressing environmental issues. Boston Youth Farm Program and Boston Microgreens founder Oliver Homberg leads a discussion on the restorative potential of seed planting, sowing renewed interest in microgreens just as he does with his students across Boston’s public schools.

He demonstrates that when we listen to nature, we listen to ourselves: the simple act of observing a growing plant can reap a harvest of innovation and change. From the smallest radish plant to global food security, Oliver offers us new strategies to stimulate richer growth.

This session includes an Opening poetry reflection led by Cleo Handler, along with a Closing guided meditation inspired by seed planting, led by Oliver.

Facilitators:

Cleo Handler, Opening with a poem by Emily Dickinson, and facilitating a discussion about Planting Seeds
