    Immerse yourself in a fascinating conversation between Dr. T. Colin Campbell and his son, filmmaker Nelson Campbell that starts out exploring how our Conventional Medicine System is based in early 1800s theories that resulted in the “local (reductionist) theory of disease”. In looking at cancer, the “local/reductionist theory” observed that cancer suddenly appears, can be cut out, and is caused by a specific agent. It searches for the “magic bullet” and paves the way for making money in the capitalist system. 


    In contrast, “constitutionalism theory” sees that disease is caused by a whole-body experience, not a specific agent. Eating whole plant-based food works to create multiple responses within the body that enhance self-healing and self-correcting, which is in concert with the nature of biology. 


    To build a plant-based world we have to give people food that is pleasurable and joyful. It’s urgent to build a plant-based world for our health, the climate and the environment.

Confusion creates challenges of the whole, plant-based food movement as people try to sort out what they should and should not eat. Controversy surrounds “SOS”... the eating of Sugar, Oil and Salt. Colin addresses this confusion, and also calcium and the dairy industry, as well as the concept of “nutrient density.” 


The recommendations by Colin and Nelson can be summarized as:


  1. Focus on eating all parts of the plant and be sure there is a lot of color on your plate
  2. Feel free to use a little salt, sugar and spices for flavoring
  3. Stay away from animal products and processed foods


To build a whole food plant-based (WFPB) world, we need compassion. In the WFPB community, we need to replace the need to be right with compassion.
