We Recommend That You

Ask yourself this question: “Am I a lifelong learner? If not, would I like to improve my skills in learning how to learn?”

As a learner, you will appreciate this conversation that Kathryn Hayward, MD has with Tiffany Sankary and Matty Wilkinson. Tiffany and Matty are movement experts with extensive experience easing the struggles of people who have chronic pain while helping them expand their creativity and joy of life.

Their training and education includes specializing in The Feldenkrais Method, The Jeremy Krauss Approach and Organic Intelligence, among other practices.

The Feldenkrais Method is a path to expand your potential as a human being. Many people come to it for pain relief or recovery from a neurological condition and then stay to continue learning into old age. Artists, actors, writers and musicians find the method gives them a more clear access to an embodied self-as-instrument.

I am going to be your last teacher. Not because I'll be the greatest teacher you may ever encounter, but because from me you will learn how to learn. When you learn how to learn, you will realize that there are no teachers, that there are only people learning and people learning how to facilitate learning.

Course Description

The Feldenkrais Method is a process of learning developed by Moshe Feldenkrais, physicist, engineer, judo master and student of human development. In the 1940’s -1970's he explored the interconnections between the body, mind, environment, and self development.

Tiffany Sankary and Matty Wilkinson are experts in The Feldenkrais Method and are co-founders of Movement and Creativity, an online and in-person program that they describe as:

A treasure trove of resources and inspiration to help you reduce pain, anxiety and stress, awaken creativity and expand your capacity to enjoy life.

-Tiffany Sankary and Matty Wilkinson

Tiffany, in her book Feldenkrais Illustrated: The Art of Learning, weaves together the writings of Moshe Feldenkrais with her own whimsical and insightful drawings. She describes the Method as having two forms: (1) Functional Integration, a hands-on process using touch and directed attention; and (2) Awareness through Movement, which involves verbally guided movement processes.

Tiffany augmented her skills, once she was trained in Feldenkrais, to add Organic Intelligence®. (OI) is a key puzzle piece AND bigger picture map to support the ongoing art of being human, with your natural and inevitable ups and downs and waves of stress, anxiety and challenges to your nervous system and life.

I love how Organic Intelligence (like Feldenkrais) does not fixate on trauma and instead is oriented toward post-trauma growth, focusing on the integration of the whole person in relationship to the environment. With genuine human connection, compassion, attunement and skill to follow the intelligence of our nervous systems, we grow our capacity to naturally heal and self-organize.

-Tiffany Sankary

Matty has a special focus on children, coaching parents and educators to create optimal conditions for children’s learning, applying his expertise as an early childhood educator, sensorimotor practitioner, and father. In his practice he has worked with diverse populations including children and adults with scoliosis, developmental delays, neurological injuries (i.e. stroke, cerebral palsy), chronic pain, learning disabilities, genetic conditions, and individuals on the autism spectrum. He seeks to help his clients access their nervous systems' potential to maximize functioning, overcome a broad range of challenges, and become efficient and effective learners.

In 2016 Matty began to work internationally, traveling several times a year to work with children and families at the Scandinavian Center of Neurodevelopmental Movement in Denmark. In 2020 he co-founded The Moving Center with Andrea Hennen and Eytan Lerner. Together they have taught extensively both in person and online, developing a unique approach that draws on Feldenkrais, Anat Baniel Method NeuroMovement®, child development, and directly addresses the importance of the adult caregiver’s habitual and often unconscious emotional reactions in creating the ideal conditions for the child’s learning.

Both Matty and Tiffany include the The Jeremy Krauss Approach® in their offerings, enhancing strength, stability and clarity in the practices that they teach.

Through the clarity, creativity & support of JKA-ATM and JKA Solvents and Glue® we have a whole new toolbox for experiencing and developing more strength, stability, springiness, uprightness, confidence, joy, aliveness, freedom, and vitality and we are enjoying sharing these enlivening practices.

What I’m after isn’t flexible bodies, but flexible brains. What I’m after is to restore each person to their human dignity.
