In these tumultuous times, the possibility of hope seems to be fading. How do we find hope in the darkness?

In this second of two sessions exploring the theme of hope, we are joined by Yoga expert Sheila Magalhaes, who helps us frame hope as an active practice. By engaging our members through powerful mindfulness exercises, we embody her insights into wellness and joy. The wealth of ancient wisdom contained in Yogic practice can teach us to approach life’s challenges with renewed enthusiasm. As we share personal stories about our experiences with hope, Sheila introduces traditional philosophical concepts to uplift and inspire us to openly embrace life’s uncertainties.

In this meeting, Sheila intermittently integrates Yoga practice throughout, and we are joined by Maia Ibar for a closing sound bath.

How can we learn how to navigate toward “Hope” even when we are experiencing feelings of “Despair”?

In this session, we focused our conversation on the theme of Hope, exploring in a vibrant community conversation how Hope and Despair relate, and how taking action helps us raise our vibration and frequency, lifting us from the depths of despair and allowing us to dare to feel hope.

What action steps can we take to help us do this? One way is to connect in with nature and with our creativity, which is why Living Whole Online’s Integrative Whole Health approach includes Art, Music, Writing, Photography, Filmmaking and Energy Practices.

Musician and composer Bill Shontz shares his insights, especially about musical improvisation, offering us music from his instruments and with his voice (and our voices). Participants share their experiences and thoughts, and LWO Founder Kathryn Hayward, MD describes trauma research that supports a strategy of taking action.

Bill opens our session by bathing us in wooden flute sounds while we experience Jin Shin Jyutsu finger holds and mindful breathing.  Bill closes the session with some beautiful sing-a-long songs from his extensive body of original music.

What would it feel like if we stopped chasing permission — to be ourselves, stop worrying, live with verve, feel tenderness? How can we give this permission to ourselves?

In this session, we continue our series on the theme of “Light” with this second and final part. Bringing together the ancient art of Jin Shin Jyutsu with a conversation about inquiry, Derek Notman leads us in a session that opens fascinating questions about mindfulness and self-care. As the founder of Awakened Embodiment, and a long-time collaborator of our Sunday TLCs, Derek is a cherished cornerstone of our community. We hope that the light he has to share helps guide your practice during these weeks of darkness, when nature encourages you to be quiet, be still and replenish your energy.

Along with Derek’s Jin Shin Jyutsu session, this meeting also includes a closing sound bath by Maia Ibar.

In this second session exploring the theme of fullness, celebrated cartoonist Jonathan Plotkin uncovers the enriching effect of creative play through the simple act of doodling. With humorous demonstrations and witty anecdotes, Plotkin teaches us how to unlock our imaginative toolkit and use drawing to incorporate play into our lives.

Creative freedom is further facilitated by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist/performer Bill Shontz, who shares three uplifting songs with profound emotional messages, leaving us with a smile in our hearts.

What is "Change"? Is it a barrier to freedom, or a source of emancipatory energy? How can it benefit our lives?

To answer these questions, we embark on the first of three Sunday sessions exploring the theme of “Change”. Guiding us is Bara Braver, an outspoken poet and spiritual thinker who helps us uncover the connection between faith and resilience. As members are invited to share their stories, a common thread emerges — to accept our imperfect, changing bodies is to access the light within.

This session includes an introductory Jin Shin Jyutsu session exploring stillness led by Derek Notman, and a closing sound bath/chakra cleanse offered by Maia Ibar and Tristan Martineau.

Welcome to our second ever Living Whole Online Sunday TLC as we wrap up 2023!

Caring for our ecosystems has the power to both help the world around us, and the ecosystem inside our bodies.

Dr. Neal Barnard, President of The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and founder of CarbonWorks, has dedicated himself this very principle. After a helpful overview of the new website and TLC page by LWO Co-creator Dr. Mimi Choi, Neal shares the profound discoveries that demonstrate the power of a whole food, plant-based diet. In sharing feedback on our community’s eating habits, he also points to the importance of eating ethically to stop the mistreatment of animals. We viewed CarbonWorks’ film, Louder Than Words. Then, to help us put this lesson into practice, Dr. Melanie Cano shares her delicious Eggless Eggnog and Rice Pudding recipes.

This meeting includes an introductory Jin Shin Jyutsu session led by Derek Notman and a closing sound bath transformation offered by Maia Ibar and Lee-Ann Curren.

Welcome to the Launch of Living Whole Online and our inaugural Sunday TLC Session!

What will our community look like? How will we learn together? Join us as we explore these questions amidst an exciting re-launch of Living Whole Online.

In this series of monthly meetings, thought-leaders in mindfulness, nutrition, and integrative health will join us to share profound insights into their respective fields. LWO Founder Dr. Kathryn Hayward and Co-creator Dr. Mimi Choi use this session to describe the learning philosophy at the core of Living Whole Online: to engage our brilliant community in open and constructive dialogue, as they would over a shared meal. To help us kickstart a culture of care for each other and ourselves, Chinese Traditional Medicine Nutrition expert Ursula Peer outlines a powerful Winter Immune Boost drink made of hot ginger and turmeric. From month to month, we will be joined by new facilitators who will give us a window into their various areas of expertise.

This meeting includes an introductory Jin Shin Jyutsu session on self-love with Derek Notman, and a closing sound bath transformation offered by Maia Ibar and Tristan Martineau, who acquaint us with sound meditation as a form of meditation.
